Spooky Mission 1 is a good game.
The Areas are great and the music is gud. For one of the first ZM hacks this is pretty well done.
Edit 2021:
Well the hack is getting old... its still one of the best hacks, but it also has many points to
improve on

Could have been worse but also could have been better.
I know that this is his first hacking experience but some things could have been improved even without special hacking knowledge. For example the tiling, even though the hack has custom tilese they are not really good. There should also have been some hints for breakable blocks and secret passages because thats really not a hard thing to do and it's just frustrating to search for some stupid invisible walls.
The save station is bugged because theres solid clipdata infront of it.
Overall not the worst hack, also pretty playable but also not great.
Wish you luck on your next hack!

Updated Review for 2.5.4
I will give this hack 3 orbs for the fun I had and 1 orb extra for the immense effort put into it. This is honestly one of the largest and most impressive Zero Mission hacks I have seen. For that alone it is worth a playthrough.
This hack shines with its amount of innovation, unique puzzles and huge world. Unfortunately, a lot of the innovations and ideas just dont work for me. Here are some points that I really didnt enjoy.
- Overlapping world, there is a reason why we rarely see this in main titles
- Uninspired hallways, a lot. Some rooms look beautiful while the majority consist of mediocre to badly designed hallways.
- The sequence, never was I ever more confused where to go before which is partly because of theā¦
- sequence breaks, which are way to easy to perform most of the time.
- The physics
- Rewards. Sometimes you do a big puzzle just to get a missile tank, other times you just find an energy tank on the ground.
- 'Dead' ends. Sometimes you walk down a long path just for it to be gated off at the end with some item you dont have yet, requiring you to just walk back
- Tourian 2
In general, I think I preferred the older version over this, almost, remake.
Since I dont want to end this so negatively, here are some things I really enjoyed.
- Speed Booster
- Bosses
- Events like Wrecked Ship and Mothership
- certain rooms look amazing
- Freedom. While seemingly contradictary with what I said earlier, I did appreciate the freedom the world gave me.
- Palettes and tilesets
- Charge Missiles attracting items

Pretty challenging, short and sweet hack.
Would recommend to everyone that has some time to spare.
But one should keep in mind that because its one room a death resets E V E R Y T H I N G.
(which is the only reason for only 4 orbs)

Really interesting idea for a hack.
If you want a challenge, this is the hack for you!
Also the replayability is pretty high because of the different modes and the hidden item :p
I liked how some bosses were simple enemys but with a twist!
The only negative thing I can think about is the tiling which is a bit wonky at some points.

If you want to play a slightly harder Zero Mission this is the hack for you. Tourian is challenging because Metroids take like 10 missiles but otherwise its pretty much the same.

Really good hack for the time it came out.
The music is good and the graphics pretty awesome.
Phazon mines is obviously the best area in all regards.
The researche center is just annoying to traverse through...
Back then when I played this hack for the Contest I really didnt like the size of the areas and rooms... and I still dont like them.
The areas are way to big for the content they hold. There are so many unececcary rooms that are a pain in the ass to get through and then the items are just open in the rooms. I hope everyone gets what I mean. It would have been way better if the open items would have put in the really long, hard to go through, rooms.
Finished

Very good short hack.
The amount of possible routes is really nice.
The size of the map being 10x10 makes item search nice and fluent. No need for random bombing.
First I thought Ridley would be a tough fight witht the equipment I got but It seems like he got nerfed quite a bit. So the difficulty should be doable for Vanilla players and easy for Advanced players.
Hard mode is actually hard
If you have about 30 to 60 minutes to spare definetly try this.

Honestly, for a first hack this is pretty good...
There are some small things that should be changed, like the spacing of the Platforms in some Brinstar towers but other than that its pretty faithful to the original but still changes enough to make it original.
Its a little bit sad, that the mothership is not changed though.
The Mother Brain fight is horrible though.

This is such a good hack. By far the best Fusion hack. The only reason Im giving 4 / 5 orbs is that it doesnt feel that polished, which for me is one of the most important categories.
That is probably because fusion is pretty hard to hack and it hopefully gets better soon.
Other than that it felt very refreshing to play an actual fusion hack.
Highly Recommend!!

Very nice demo. I think this is discontinued, however.
The colors and tilesets are very pleasing and work well with Zero Mission.
The music choice is questionable but bonus points for using them in an original way.
What feels really weird, are the physics changes. Samus walking cycle is just way too fast for the slower walking speed but the slower speed allowed for a more chill exploration.
I would have liked to see more enemies though, some rooms felt very empty.
If you have the time to play this small demo I can recommend it,
otherwise its not really worth the effort of playing.

This hack has so much good stuff in it and I really want to like this hack.
My problem is that the hack just feels like a lot of good ideas were just stitched together resulting in me just wandering around in the world without any real goal. It is hard to find a proper path of progression at points. For exploration this hack is fantastic but at a cost of any direction.
Given, many items can be skipped and, as far as I know, the hack can be beaten without ever grabbing morph. But that also leads me to my next problem, the item placement feels like a randomizer, funny enough there is a randomizer built in. Sometimes I explored parts of an area expecting to get a specific item, just to get another useless missile tank or a completely different item, which unlocks progression somewhere on the other side of the map.
Well even with all my negative points this hack was still able to amaze me at times, which allows me to still rate 4 orbs.

A lot of graphical bugs happen because the wrong sprite graphics are loaded. Especially with the Save Station text.

I have beaten Metroid 2 several times in my free time at school with this color patch.
The colors look very good. I think some background tiles are too dark making the space jumping timer too hard. Its also very samey (as is Metroid 2) but thats due to the decision of only using one global palette. Different colors for different areas would have been neat.

Being the creator of the tool used to create this and being in touch with the hack creator this is a very biased review. If I were to play this without any involvement, I would probably rate this a 3.5 - 4 orbs. This just screams: "I am a moehr hack.", which means that it has everything I love about a moehr hack and everything I hate about a moehr hack.
The graphics look beautiful and are very cluttered at the same time.
The world is very unique but is also very close to M2 at points.
I think the progression is just very obscure (like I don't think I ever knew where to actually go) but this also allows for crazy exploration.
The map and several other QOL improvements are things I don't want to miss EVER again.
I can't properly explain how crazy it is to have this hack. This sets the bar so high for everything else. A lot of high rated SM or ZM hacks don't even have the amount of custom things put into them that this hack has.
M2 hacking has finally set off and it's only getting better from here on.
Bravo, Moehr!

I played until Ridley, where I was greeted by typical ridley enemies, with no way of refilling my health and the zero suit pistol which does absolutely no damage. Everything I could say has already been said above.
This was surprisingly fun. I really like a lot of this.
There is a surprising amount of custom code in here and its worth to play just to see what is possible with the M2 engine.
Gameplay is pretty barebones and sometimes boring but its short enough to not be a real downside.
Unfortunanetly the game crashed and softlocked a couple of times which required me to restart. Other than that this is a nice small hack.
