I like this hack a lot. It's definitely a good hack. Benox has made the rooms to a very high standard, and the puzzles really get the player thinking. The idea of 3 separate areas is a unique experience. The effects in some of the rooms had me completely immersed.
However, I felt often frustrated by the layout of the some of the areas. I felt as if the hack was slightly too open in general (that might be a personal nitpick). I must've been round the second area at least 5 times in total to find what I needed. I wasn't sure what the intended route was either, because I felt like I was breaking the sequence to obtain particular items.
Some enemies in the final area made me quite upset, especially the shield bangs (and the final boss was a little weird, but I can understand).
These issues aren't enough to put me off the hack, however. I ended up finding every item and this eased some of my troubles (eventually).
Give this hack a try, and you'll probably enjoy it!

It's a hack that really turns the game on its head! Or... its side.
My only issue is how strange some of the rooms look, but that could be considered a limitation on the behalf of Super Metroid.
Great stuff. Definitely worth a play.

For a contest hack, and probably the first real ZM hack, I'm fond of it. A little bit of backtracking and difficulty stopped it from being better, but I like it.

Don't get me wrong. Z-Factor is a great hack, compared to a lot of the junk we see today. I understand effort of all kinds has been placed into the hack itself, for example the many, many strange happenings at the start of the game. Very cool. Later on though, Z-Factor just seems like one larger, harder, ordinary Full Hack, not an Overhaul. Why? Because the many happenings from the beginning of the game become less frequent, and it somewhat feels that Meta puts less effort into the middle sections of the hack. Some rooms with spikes and Crumble blocks placed, a sign of little to no inspiration. Little to no hint of progression, leaving the player Stumped upon where to go, seeing as the world is so open and the progression is changed. Though Tourian was indeed the highlight of the hack, I wouldn't put this on my play list.

First of all, seizure warning. Second of all, jumping into this way after the contest, it wasn't really what I expected from Metaquarius. I understand it's a contest hack, but... there was some nice design and music... but it felt so wrong. Making a vanilla SM hack made me rather... disgusted... by a hack that does it so wrong in my opinion. Beating a boss did not feel rewarding, it just felt required for the ending, which I might add was a huge letdown. Furthermore, some items are just way too out of the way, especially in "Orangestar", which I found some of the items just before heading to "Finalstar". I even hardlocked on one of the gates, which was pretty absurd because I had to defeat Draygon again. Not fun. This hack definitely needs a polish to push its rating up.
It had nice ideas which bring up the rating to 2 orbs, but on a whole, it just sucked.
If I wanted to die, I wouldn't let this hack do it for me.
