Metroid: Spooky Mission is a good hack. It has many custom areas and some really neat ideas. The size of the hack seems just right and it feels especially large for a contest hack, probably the result of many people working on the hack to get it to fruition. Difficulty isn't too high and it doesn't take itself too seriously. Definitely the hack of the year.

Spooky Mission showed us all what GBAtroid hacking was really capable of. This very well designed and extremely fun-focused contest hack succeeds in many ways - good tilesets, new music, and well executed nonlinear design. Every area is a very fresh experience. In a sense, I'd rather play this than vanilla ZM! Well done Spooky Mission team!
