Description
This ROM hack was originally intended to be an entry in Oatsngoats' contest... Honestly, there's not much to say about the hack itself that I didn't already say in the forum post.

Pretty decent. The rooms are solid, both from platforming and the tiling, palettes, and use of fx. The music and sprites are all customized, and the menu/ending are nicely changed to reflect the lack of metroids or exploding planets. There aren't any mechanical changes like respin, but it does have updated map tiles to help with navigation.

There were some frustrating parts; choosing the "wrong" missile door early on, the finnicky precision in the first stretch, and a grapple trick. Though, that last one is more personal preference/comfort than being a problem. The final fights / boss are neat, though I died several times and found running back to be a bit of a slog.

Very enjoyable.

I don't know why this hack is labelled as "Beginner." It's a pretty bold-faced lie. I would classify it as "Vanilla" at least, probably "Veteran." It's short, but you're thrown into heat runs right off the bat. Enemy stats are buffed and drop rates are abysmal, leading to unfun instances of running out of ammo for doors or falling into pits and getting one-shot by enemies moving in from offscreen.

The new graphics are good, especially the sprite work for the enemies. The music is hit or miss. Some of the songs are nice to listen to and fit their environments well, while others can be rather unpleasant to listen to.

Nah, I'm not picking that missile

Good music tho and lots of effort for the first hack

Awesome customized sprites, the music is a banger and the hack doesn't overstay its welcome.

If it was a full length hack I'd probably be more critical and rate it 4*, but seeing how much custom (and good) content was in there, and knowing it was for Oats's contest, I can bump it to 5 stars.

There's some e-tanks very early and lots of refills, so there's barely any need to farm in this hack. I do agree with the other user; this hack should be labelled vanilla or probably Veteran due to some grapple tricks and heat runs. Nothing too hard, but doubt beginners would appreciate those.

Will come back to this one later to get 100%. I did get one tricky Missile, so I guess I slept on an easy item and missed the 100%. Great effort for a first time hack!

Absolutely not Beginner difficulty. It is punishing at first, especially due to possible spike missteps and not knowing where to go at first, but if you can weather enough pain rain heat runs and find the Varia suit the hack's difficulty disappears. The author of this knows his stuff, putting the player into situations where X-Ray is actually necessary for reasons of fun, not reasons of torture. It has been so long since I've seen a hack that uses X-Ray CRE that it isn't even funny, so this happens to be a breath of fresh air on that front. The next point of contention for that difficulty thing happens to be the boss, a reskinned Gold Torizo that will pound you if you don't know the strategies for beating him, and you absolutely must use Super Missiles to do it because you won't have Charge Beam. (Or will you? I don't actually know what the last item is.) Overall, this hack is worth a bite-size of your time. Make a fullhack next, dude.

for a quick play hack, this was pretty well done and I like it.. I like everything about it, ranging from the layout and item placement to the use of the tilesets and everything else, even the enemy redesign was nice and I'd say this hack is a 10/10 for me

No completion stats.
I guess my luck had to come to an end eventually. This was a superbly good hack with a ton of custom biomes, enemies, and great level design.... But then the endgame is reached and almost immediately the hack becomes a complete homenag disaster with a terribly designed room followed by a virtually unbeatable boss. Kind of reminds me of blue plague which was so good until the mandatory path was blocked off by a virtually impossible and unfair platforming challenge.
