Description
100% complete - Super Metroid Final Stand

feel free to rip what you want from this hack or even improve it.

Patch is for an un-headerd rom, and use zsnes when playing because snes9x will cause messed up gfx. also there are still some issues with in the hack. if someone wants to fix these and update this post that would be awesome. i am done for quite some time school is getting harder and i lack time. so i also wish you all the best of luck.

A conspiracy with in the federation pits you against the energy devouring Life forms known as Metroids once again. you find yourself traversing through the murkiest of places with deaths sweet embrace behind every door. you can hear their screes whipping through the cave of this unfamiliar place. you know in the back of your head that your next move might be your last... yet you proceed.

Final Stand is a pretty brutal, but thankfully small hack. The size is an asset in this, as it is over really quick, since everything is trying, and usually succeeding at killing you. Other than that, it is really dark in some places, and there is a known issue where collecting one item will make another disappear and render the game unbeatable.

Still, for a short little hack, it looks really good, has some minor exploration, and offers a nice challenge. Would recommend it, but it isn't for everyone.

This hack would be good IF I COULD SEE WHAT I WAS DOING.
Still, it understands that to have made it larger would have ruined the experience. In the end it's a very difficult hack, with a cool twist on the usual ending. Would recommend to skilled players.

Quick Summary of the meaning of my SM hack ratings:
5 orbs: SM hacks within the 80% to 100% (90% ± 10%) range of perceived perfection; SM hacks for outstanding wholesome playing experiences and at most minor inconveniences.
4 orbs: SM hacks within the 60% to 80% (70% ± 10%) range of perceived perfection; Well done SM hacks with noticeable design problems.
3 orbs: SM hacks within the 40% to 60% (50% ± 10%) range of perceived perfection; Normal decent average SM hacks.
2 orbs: SM hacks within the 20% to 40% (30% ± 10%) range of perceived perfection; Overall messy, confusing, or punishing SM hacks with some upsides.
1 orb : SM hacks within the 00% to 20% (10% ± 10%) range of perceived perfection; Ruthlessly unplayable, broken, or barely from the original game changed SM hacks.

Judgement parameters summary:
° Creative ideas and features, polished design, how enjoyable and fun the hack can be, lack of hard to find or cryptic required game elements, the difficulty, and if the hack can be finished without major guides or tools.
° Note that the length of a SM hack will not necessarily contribute to my rating of the SM hack, since instead the averaged out experience over the whole hack will be taken into account to get a relative comparison between SM hacks.
° Besides this, lack of impactful changes from the original SM game also went into the evaluation of SM hacks (otherwise one may consider them among the 3 stars hacks) as follows: Ultimately, for my ratings I consider a situation in which an SM enthusiast that already has, knows about and is familiar with the original game and its prominent mechanics could only choose 1 new SM hack to play and thus would really want to make sure he/she will get a fresh and fantastic experience or journey out of his/her 1 choice.

The goal of all these SM hack ratings is so that rather new players have an overview of the whole spectrum of SM hacks and how to sort them in, in relation to each other, where SM hacks that are rated lower might still be enjoyable for more experienced players.

Finally, sometimes for SM hacks it can be relevant that they may be significantly more enjoyable from a player standpoint at which the player is well practiced and familiarized with Super Metroid's game mechanics in general, and that in particular some of the best SM hacks may not be the outright best first SM hack choices to play otherwise because of this, and for beginner SM hack players this typically steers the best first SM hack choices towards some of the SM hacks that I rated with 4 orbs instead of 5.

Rating for some hacks may be off by 1 Star, but arguably not more, and ratings are not attempted to be provided within the precision of ''half orbs''.

Love the colors here, black and neon lime green is a combination of love. But man this is hard, really hard. The difficulty transform this small hack into a long one.
didnt know what to do at the end too, was stuck and this was litterally the end, good idea badly executed.

It seems like a savestate hack due to terrible design, but once you figure out a few facts a light clicks on in your head and playing this becomes more like a movement puzzle, one where you must still dodge Metroids before they latch on and murder you. Let me save you ample trouble by screwing in the biggest lightbulb: THIS IS A HALFHACK. As dark and confusing as it looks, once you realize that navigation becomes extremely simple. I'll lay it out for you with a mini-walkthrough: Go to Blue Brinstar and grab Morph Ball. Now go back to Green Brinstar and head as deep as you can go to collect Gravity Suit. Congratulations, you're already halfway done with ensuring your survival. Now you can explore as you please (those water zones you've already been to look enticing, don't they?) and collect energy tanks and upgrades so that you can reach the end of the hack, where if you've picked up a certain item the last item will be missing and you can't actually complete! Oh well. It was fun while it lasted, and I don't care to try again. One last word of warning: don't take the Crateria<->Red Brinstar elevator without being geared up, as this is most certainly where you will die without the proper precautions.
