Description
every light side has a dark converse.... zebes desturction gave birth to its sinister self.

dark zebes.
its expaning dark atmosphere threatens humankind! who else to save us but samus aran herself?

the order is what i've changed considerably along with items. I've used some other different things you will see and go 'what the heck is that? ' such as chozo statues built to walls that make security walls you can't see.

No animals to be saved.

Quick Summary of the meaning of my SM hack ratings:
5 orbs: SM hacks within the 80% to 100% (90% ± 10%) range of perceived perfection; SM hacks for outstanding wholesome playing experiences and at most minor inconveniences.
4 orbs: SM hacks within the 60% to 80% (70% ± 10%) range of perceived perfection; Well done SM hacks with noticeable design problems.
3 orbs: SM hacks within the 40% to 60% (50% ± 10%) range of perceived perfection; Normal decent average SM hacks.
2 orbs: SM hacks within the 20% to 40% (30% ± 10%) range of perceived perfection; Overall messy, confusing, or punishing SM hacks with some upsides.
1 orb : SM hacks within the 00% to 20% (10% ± 10%) range of perceived perfection; Ruthlessly unplayable, broken, or barely from the original game changed SM hacks.

Judgement parameters summary:
° Creative ideas and features, polished design, how enjoyable and fun the hack can be, lack of hard to find or cryptic required game elements, the difficulty, and if the hack can be finished without major guides or tools.
° Note that the length of a SM hack will not necessarily contribute to my rating of the SM hack, since instead the averaged out experience over the whole hack will be taken into account to get a relative comparison between SM hacks.
° Besides this, lack of impactful changes from the original SM game also went into the evaluation of SM hacks (otherwise one may consider them among the 3 stars hacks) as follows: Ultimately, for my ratings I consider a situation in which an SM enthusiast that already has, knows about and is familiar with the original game and its prominent mechanics could only choose 1 new SM hack to play and thus would really want to make sure he/she will get a fresh and fantastic experience or journey out of his/her 1 choice.

The goal of all these SM hack ratings is so that rather new players have an overview of the whole spectrum of SM hacks and how to sort them in, in relation to each other, where SM hacks that are rated lower might still be enjoyable for more experienced players.

Finally, sometimes for SM hacks it can be relevant that they may be significantly more enjoyable from a player standpoint at which the player is well practiced and familiarized with Super Metroid's game mechanics in general, and that in particular some of the best SM hacks may not be the outright best first SM hack choices to play otherwise because of this, and for beginner SM hack players this typically steers the best first SM hack choices towards some of the SM hacks that I rated with 4 orbs instead of 5.

Rating for some hacks may be off by 1 Star, but arguably not more, and ratings are not attempted to be provided within the precision of ''half orbs''.

At first I thought the invisible blocks were a mistake until I read the description...
Now I realize it's a decent idea, just the ones in maridia are really annoying.

Vanilla half hack. Alternate progression. Some item rooms are now dead ends.
Some places needed better slope tiling, some possible permastucks if not careful.
It wasn't that bad, it's on my playlist, will be enjoying more playthroughs.

I really don't like early phantoon, but the ninja path to him makes up for it.

Thanks for the hack.

Solid halfhack...but it doesn't change enough.
Right away, you can totally sequence break the game by walljumping up to Gauntlet, it breaks the entire sequence so much. It's really weird, and I'd think the creator would know about something as small as this...but oh well.
90% of the item locations were barely changed at all, but some items were swapped and Gravity was in a cool location.
The suit colors look really bad, except for the Power Suit. It looks like they just threw a bunch of colors onto one suit and decided that was the end of it.
Some bosses like Kraid and Draygon were buffed a lot, and with your low-ish firepower once you get to them, it makes for some pretty long and boring fights.
Overall, decent halfhack but I didn't think it changed enough.
P.S. Failing baby skip can be a hardlock (not as bad as you think) and the Crateria PBs room hardlocked me too. You have been warned.

Doesn't change enough.
Somewhat confusing what intent was. Platforming in several places were made easier in some places, but one the other hand kraid was annoyingly buffed.
Getting pb early makes the hack somewhat trivial, but on the other hand I think getting them is intended after speed, and that'd force a lot more backtracking?
Crashed somewhat randomly twice.
I really enjoyed gravity suit palette tho.

Game crashes when played on console in several rooms. Hard to blame it since it's like 900 years old. What did work was kinda boring and didn't change much. Play Darkness Spreads 2 instead unless you like minimally changed half-hacks on emulator

It feels too much like Zebes Returns, which I actually enjoyed. I played these two close together, so maybe that’s why I didn’t like it more, but the challenges were worse in this one I thought. Item replacements weren’t as clever, and it ended being the same boss order I used in Zebes Returns. It got bland. It could have been better, but it could have been worse.

It's a half-hack, with different routing. Some of the item locations are different, which is neat. If you're a casual, you'll likely follow the intended path, but veterans will more than likely stray from the main route and find more items than they need by the time they fight the first intended G4 boss encounter. Some of the bosses were vastly buffed (in health, not damage) while others were greatly nerfed, for the sake of the routing. Not much else to say, really. My only gripe is, despite the name, the aesthetics of Zebes (or Dark Zebes, in this case) looks literally no different than ordinary Zebes. At least Samus's suits have different colors. As something to note: Like with Super Hard Metroid, the Baby Metroid encounter uses a different sound effect for the Baby Metroid, making the game very likely to crash if it grabs Samus, and reduces her health to 1, forcing the player to have to Baby skip, which is always annoying.

P.S. Where the hell is Spazer?!
