Wonderful hack. Been playing it for years.
However there's always been a problem when playing on psp w/snes9xtyl.

I mean, for a nestroid hack. The first few playthroughs you'll get lost. It was fun though.

Maridia is a nightmare, giant sidehoppers everywhere, & permastucks in the sand.
Comes with the sickest looking tileset though.

I made it to ridley with only 4 e-tanks. Lucky I didn't save cause I needed to find more..
Andavald is pretty cool, wish there was more to do there.

Nice play! Just the bosses are really difficult to get through.
I didn't find wave beam or grapple beam either.
If you get to the two fighter piratez in norfair without space jump, it's nearly a permastuck.

This one's really good. I missed spore spawn & hi-jump boots early on. You'll need them in Maridia & it's a long way back.

Finding secret passages buried in the sands of maridia is pretty fun.
Got lost a lot, didn't find many e-tanks, also didn't run into gold torizo or screw attack..

Bosses are a challenge.
Needed every etank to take down Ridley.
... and every super missile.
... and every power bomb.
Item progression & level design is tons of fun.
Some fixes for the next playthrough...
Map fix for east crateria.
1A99A6 : 27 4C 27 0C 25 8C 25 CC
Norfair door fix.

Not so bad for such an ancient hack.
I mean it's vanilla map, but it was still enjoyable.
I liked how tourian went this time around.
There's only two problems with this hack.
First is if you don't power bomb for dori the first time, the door back isn't there.
So you have to do the room b4 again, which isn't fun.
Second is I couldn't get past the giant metroid event, the game kept freezing.
I had to use smile & my only solution was set the # of enemies to zero.
Seems like it affects every version.
Wasn't too sure how or when I was supposed to get into the wrecked ship.
I ended up getting spring ball & taking the long way around maridia...
Overall it was fun, thanks for the hack.

I started my playthrough of this hack when it first came out.
When I made it to norfair the first time, I lost all interest.
The same general path, the same map, the same room with different tiles.
So boring.
But first impressions never decide anything.
I enjoyed everything except the new suit gfx.
Those shoulders are not something I'd ever want on my space suit.
I really got into it when returning to norfair to take out ridley.
The hidden blocks, new tourian, the escape sequence.
I would use subterranean as a descriptive word.
Also missed the xray during the first escape.
I feel like there's not enough time to panic & you need to rehearse.
Thanks for the hack!

Hidden gem of old type hacks.
This is one of the more challenging hacks I've played.
Save stations weren't loading properly for me, so save state every station.
High bytes need to be $80.
This hack taught me how to damage boost off a spike to clear a pit of lava.
I loaded from the wrong coordinates & was actually supposed to come from the other direction...
Thus the use of save states.
Never felt more like a ninja though. ^_^
Anyways, some advice for those who wish to venture into hell.
First is for exploring every part of norfair the first time & collecting your beam.
Look for some vanilla secret rooms in brinstar to find a suit.
This hack takes advantage of many rooms you would not encounter on any vanilla playthroughs...
Second is for exploring every part of zebes when in need of an equipment or ammo upgrade.
Search norfair for a backward entry into lower east norfair.
I'm not sure if you can get screw attack early on, so enjoy what is the first layer of hell.
Third is just a general gameplay procedure.
Do not waste your super missiles.
Always stay fully stocked.
Try to keep track of places you encounter consecutive super missile blocks.
Attempt to calculate how many you will need.
Very frustrating running to the same rooms to encounter the same dead ends.
Very slow to pick up, the challenge keeps it interesting.
Everything is very well hidden, even the main path.
You will pay for every single mistake you make.
Liquid just instantly disintegrates you.
Crumble blocks hate you.
Ninja part in maridia if you fail, you will fall so far & you just worked so hard to get there.
The worst part of your nightmares awaits you in east brinstar.
I first showed up with 180 missiles, 15 supers, & 699 health.
There's no fucking way.
A few more hours of searching & I came back with 240 missiles, 50 supers, & 1099 health.
The first part is a sick space jump battle carefully using your ammo.
The second part is frantically shooting claws to get more ammo to get the fuck out of there.
32,000 hp, it just doesn't want to die.
A whole day of failure to one boss.
Nothing's worse than the bed of chaos though.
Maybe I'm just not hardcore enough.
Definitely want to play this a bunch more.
Thanks for the hack.

Well, you can brute your way to wavebeam, so you dont' need grapple or springball at all.
I also didn't get spacejump or icebeam, which you don't need for tourian.
Plus early powerbombs are still an option...

I missed a lot of items & never found kraid.
Ridley requires all the ammo you can find w/o the charge beam.
I don't like the underwater physics either, but it's still a good game.

This is actually two hacks in one.
Mockingbird Station & Get The Grapple.
Feels forced linear. Worst phantoon fight. Get the grapple isn't happening.
One really sick speedboost puzzle during the escape sequence.
Kinda wana mockball & bounce, best part of the hack imo.
Maybe shoulda got the gravity suit so phantoon wasn't rng luck...
Ten hours rta, not a fun day, damn turtles are stupid.
Easy four stars if it gets finished with spore spawn & power bombz though.
Oh yeah, thanks for the hack.

I played the more recent "Cold Soup" found on the metroid2k forums.
Based on the two videos of the original, it seems a bit easier.
Anyways, vanilla half hack that makes you use your head.
Tons of small puzzles, mockball abuse everywhere.
If you can't short mock for the life of you, you're not gona get anywhere with soup.
You're going to take a ton of acid baths, & when you think you're done, it's time for another.
Maybe you shouldn't have looked @ the keyboard typing today.
There were some panic events, like I'm about to die can you get me out already.
Maridia was my favorite, suitless underwater & quicksand grapple course.
I enjoyed it, thanks for the hack.

At first I thought the invisible blocks were a mistake until I read the description...
Now I realize it's a decent idea, just the ones in maridia are really annoying.
Vanilla half hack. Alternate progression. Some item rooms are now dead ends.
Some places needed better slope tiling, some possible permastucks if not careful.
It wasn't that bad, it's on my playlist, will be enjoying more playthroughs.
I really don't like early phantoon, but the ninja path to him makes up for it.
Thanks for the hack.

My favorite part was draygon.
Probably want to double my play time counting deaths.
Also one death to the spore spawn spikes.
Second power bomb isn't found so easily.
I think it was ice beam & hijump boots that you can collect multiple times.
Something something high byte plm index whatever.
Good for a few playthroughs.
