Pretty fun little hack with a swell sense of exploration and the custom gfx/music to back it all up. I approve.
A very pretty and well designed hack. It was updated during the contest to fix most of the bugs that existed. However there is still one music bug that exists when going through an area transition when custom music is playing. The hack is large, but sadly too much so. Many rooms felt empty and pointless, which made exploration boring and almost annoying, considering that most of the rooms were massive. Regardless, it is a fun hack to play. The research area was by far my favorite part of the hack.
Really good hack with great music and customized graphics, BUT too much backtracking for my liking (even with the shortcuts), Ridley was not fun at all, and it ended way too soon.
Mostly well built world, though there are a few missing textures, thankfully only one in a position that decieves the player. I managed to avoid the Ridley fight in my playthrough. Made for a contest involving making it past the obstacle to get the item to get past the obstacle, and performs this in a very enjoyable (Albeit aggravating) manner.
AWESOME HACK! I find it amazing how much work you guys put in here, I wish there were more GBA hacks like this!
One small issue is that when you go into Headquarters from the Command Center, the music suddenly stops until you reach Mother Brain. I realized if I dont go into that room where it goes to command center, the music stays in tact.

A pretty decent hack in all regards. I'll start with the positives. The music was pretty good, and enjoyable throughout. The visuals were pretty nice as well. I liked having a new planet to explore, that had a great mix of nature and technology.
But as with all hacks, there's downsides. I'll start with my biggest gripe, the room sizes. A lot of the rooms seemed like they were large and obtuse for no reason other than "Because I can".
This wouldn't be too bad if it was limited to a few instances, but it's pretty much every room. It bloats the areas more than they need to be.
A lot of the rooms were large and hard to quickly navigate through, and this ended up making the shortcuts end up the only way I'd want to keep exploring the area. I don't think it's a good thing when I want to avoid traveling through rooms more than once in an exploration based hack.
Another thing is, it ended a lot sooner than I expected. It felt abrupt. Just walking then bam! Suddenly, final boss. The escape was also slightly disappointing.
All in all, a great Zero Mission hack with a few issues. 4/5, I'll be playing this again in the future.
2022 EDIT: Just replayed the hack for the first time in a good while. It's actually even better than I remember it. There's a lot of things I appreciate now that I didn't before, which I think bring the hack up to a 5/5 for me.
1: The aforementioned large room sizes. While, yes, they can be annoying, in a lot of cases they actually work really well. Many of them provide fun platforming and combat challenges, as well as making a neat atmosphere in general.
You really get the feeling that you're in a titanic facility when every room towers a good hundred feet over your head. It's a nice change of pace compared to the typical hallway and shaft structure. I can see the screen-crunch being kind of annoying, but so long as you play carefully it'll be fine.
2: The difficulty balancing is really nice. It doesn't fall into the "too easy" trap that I see a lot of Metroid hacks fall into, while also not being too hard at the same time. You have to actually pay attention and fight the enemies properly to get through instead of just brute-forcing. The hack manages to makes missile tanks feel actually useful, which is always a plus, and it makes energy tanks feel even better than before.
3: The visuals. While, coloring-wise they aren't my preference, I do appreciate the effort to craft a new environment. The space pirate base and phazon mines all like very interesting, and I appreciate both the choice and usage of tiles.
4: The tone. This has more of a serious tone than most other ZM hacks, and it has the great, original design to back it up. More than any other ZM hack, to me this feels like an entirely new Metroid game. While, having a serious tone isn't inherently a positive or negative, I appreciate its inclusion and execution very much here.
5: The areas are actually pretty fun to explore. A lot of Metroid areas tend to fall into a trap of areas kind of being too small and simple. While, bloating things out isn't necessarily always a good decision, I think this hack has just the right amount of bloat to make exploring feel both substantial, worthwhile, and pretty fun.
My only really big complaints nowadays are that A: It's a bit short and ends abruptly, and B: Sequence breaking doesn't seem very feasible.
All in all, this is a great hack that I'm only now beginning to truly appreciate. 5/5.

This is a really great hack.
The music was awesome and I loved the areas. The outer Research area around Ridley in particular was great because the rain and the music set the mood perfectly.
Many rooms were a bit large and there were some rooms that didn't serve much of a purpose but it didn't bother me much.
It was interesting that you could technically finish the game without ever getting Ice Beam and Space Jump.
The escape was meh. I don't like morph mazes with crumble blocks.
All in all this is a very fun hack that I fully recommend.

Excellent hack!
Loved the custom music and custom graphics. Phazon Mines was my favorite area.
The fast-paced section before getting Ice Beam was really fun. It was difficult, but I really liked it. Also, it turns out that the Research Facility's music is corrupted but the creators decided to keep it in! Thought that was interesting.
Vanilla physics, massive world to explore with a lot of fun and massive rooms. You have to search for some minor items if you wanna live, but I love exploration so it wasn't a problem.
Ridley fight, on the other hand, was really bad. Crumble blocks on the floor just make it so I can sit in the bottom farming missiles waiting to kill him. He can't even hit me down there, a boss rework would be good honestly. Kraid was fine.
I feel like there wasn't much sequence breakability, but I played it how the creators intended I think.
Overall, extremely fun hack and I think everyone should play this if they have 2-3 hours to spare.
Finished.

I played through this hack on the 'Princess' difficulty, and while I can't remember my completion rate, I did get all of the required upgrades.
For me, I felt like it's a somewhat linier experience, with some nice exploration. Some of the upgrades were hard, if not impossible for me to figure out how to get them though, and I only got 21 of them before fighting Mother Brain.
I feel that the Mines are possibly a bit too big to navigate, especially with the Phazon corrupted areas near the bottom of the map. Also, without a map room in the HQ, some bits - like the connection to the Command area and the gap between the final save room and the rest of the HQ - felt off.
Also, there's no use of Power Bombs, Plasma Beam or Spring Ball - the latter being something I feel could had been included, as having to bomb jump can be a little annoying.
Finally... Why, oh why did you have to include the Metroids in the Research area before you get the Ice Beam from beating Ridley? Which was an utter joke compared to Kraid, come to think about it.

Really good hack for the time it came out.
The music is good and the graphics pretty awesome.
Phazon mines is obviously the best area in all regards.
The researche center is just annoying to traverse through...
Back then when I played this hack for the Contest I really didnt like the size of the areas and rooms... and I still dont like them.
The areas are way to big for the content they hold. There are so many unececcary rooms that are a pain in the ass to get through and then the items are just open in the rooms. I hope everyone gets what I mean. It would have been way better if the open items would have put in the really long, hard to go through, rooms.

Recommend if you have about 2-3 hours to spare

Overall, a good hack. Not the best, not bad either. I think the first part of it is the worst, since it feels like there are many filler rooms that are meaningless for the gameplay, but it gets better once you get to the Phazon Mines. It misses some of power-ups, but that's okay, it gives a different feeling to the final 'full-power' scenario. Also, having a Zero Mission version of Underwater Depths is always a plus, I really loved that song.
Item collection is placeholder, I forgot mine. In terms of the actual hack - really solid one, has great exploration and environments. Mostly my issue is a preference one and that is the custom music - I am not a fan of the theme of the first area. Other than that one of the best for ZM. Needless to say - the Phazon suit looks great
Well made but fairly boring. Very open in terms of the world but not in terms of item progression and not a lot of secrets to find. Not a lot of puzzles or interesting exploration instead it was just going from room to room hoping to find the next item. Back tracking at the end for 100% was very straight forward and felt like padding. It's not bad but I'd only recommend it to those who are rather bored or who have played the other better unique ZM hacks like Return to Zebes, Scrolls or Spooky Mission. Still a well made game is something to be thankful for so thanks to the creators on a solid hack nonetheless.

I plan on updating this review, but I managed to do some sequence breaking here. Shortly after you enter Phazon Mines theres a long crumble block platform that I horizontal bomb jumped over. From there, I fought Kraid and got Speed Booster, went up to Research, and straight to Headquarters and fought Mother Brain. I'm gonna go back through and try to collect 100% of the items, as my only progress items are Charge Beam, Bombs, Screw Attack, and Speed Booster. But I enjoyed almost everything so far! As others have said, there are many large rooms that can be condensed, but the difficulty is comparable to vanilla, was pretty chill to playthrough. My main gripe is the escape sequence after fighting MB, I didn't like how you had to do trial and error to pick the right path to escape. Now, to go back and get everything!
I didnt make note of it previously but I love the music. The remix of the Fusion track in Mines is beautiful. Staying in Mines, I noticed two or three tiling errors, theres a long cold room near the bottom, right above Imago, and theres some blank tiles where there should be a solid block.
Other than those little issues, this was a solid hack! It definitely became easier once I actually had Ice Beam and Phazon Suit. The hardest expansion for me (of all of them, like really?) was a Missile pack behind a blue crack in the wall near the center of Command. Final time was a whopping 1:32:39

Good hack, but storywise it made no sense for Ridley to appear before the "rouge AI" was dealt with. You should've textured Motherbrain to a different colored (say red, for corruped just like in Metroid Prime 3) and had Ridley tried to kill you after you destroyed the rogue AI they sent you to exterminate yourself. Apart from this pretty big story gripe, excellent hack overall. Didn't like Phazon mines too much since you were blocked in every specific corner unless you got the Phazon suit but overall enjoyed the rest of the hack a lot more. Bless the music, specifically the first level. Did not like the Tourian bland music near the end.
very good quick hack. very polished. nice phazon suit, my favourite of course, and very good music. nice level design and map.
I can totally recommend this hack to everyone.
Pretty fun hack with a big sense of exploration.
But it felt quite linear. I am not sure if this was just my playthrough, but since I basically always went the wrong ways / dead ends, it was actually a very linear progression.
I guess 1-2 major items can be skipped though and the order in which you get your majors seem to be always the same.
The hack ended quite quickly. It did not felt like you are getting to the end of the game, but just that there is always some new rooms to explore.
Some rooms were really annoying to traverse, even if you came back with better gear later on.
Difficulty seems quite fair (played on normal difficulty).
The "story" did not make sense at all in my opinion, because the hack is not really designed around the story. To be fair, it´s just a 2 sentence long story, but still does not fit.
But since this is a exploration-focused hack, I don´t mind.
Play it!

This is the first Metroid rom hack I have found that has successfully fulfilled all the requirements of a metroidvania. It has enough custom content to feel like its own separate game as well. It also has no glitching required whatsoever. The only problems are repetitive rooms with the same enemies in each biome and a plot that doesn't fit at all with the events of the game. Indeed, the events within the game, especially the bosses feel like a weird remix of zero mission. I leaned towards giving this 4/5 orbs but in the end I decided to go for 5/5 because a) creators should be rewarded for using metroid games as a canvas for making good metroidvania games instead of making precision platformers and b) This mod is slightly underrated and needs a boost in it's score to help bring it into the 4.5 orb range.
one of the best ZM hacks I've ever played tbh, really lovin the phazon suit (my favorite suit btw) and the level design.. research center and phazon mines were my favorite areas. I also like that Ridley was nerfed (he becomes a pain if he has too much heath) but all in all, this is an amazing quick hack of ZM and I'd recommend it to anyone who's looking for short hacks like this

SR-387,a enjoyable place and decent long hack.
This is one of the few hacks of ZM (or at least one of the only I've played) that does NOT have a silly tone (aside from the menu and end screen), and is NOT a halfhack or noticeably copy pasting a bunch of ZM's rooms. If you want a serious, original ZM hack that doesn't use a bunch of Fusion bosses, then this might be the best ZM hack, by process of elimination.
If you don't care about any of that, then this is simply a good hack, just not the best. A major nitpick was that a lot of optional items were lazily sitting behind dead end rooms. Either those rooms needed more in them, or the items should've been hidden in the larger rooms and have done away with all the smaller rooms. I don't know for certain, but this feels like it must've been a contest hack, so maybe some of it had to be rushed. Regardless it doesn't ruin the hack.
This is almost like the Eris of ZM hacks, with limited ammo and relatively challenging combat, dangerous Metroids, and a dark atmosphere. Though it's much easier to navigate and complete which is fine by me. Recommend.
One last note: When the hack said I unlocked some stuff for beating it, I thought for a second that there was an extra hack of NEStroid (the NEStroid you unlock in ZM), but sadly I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.

+ Looks good
+ Serious setting
+ Unique boss fights
+ Fun Metroid Prime references
+ Charge Tractor beam and starting with items is appreciated
+ Numerous rooms made memorable by setpieces or unique design
+ Restricted Lab's music is corrupted and it sounds really cool
- Tiling errors
- Enemies are kinda spongey
- The route to Kraid is kind of tedious
- Music in the first area is a bit grating
- Exploration is a little boring (Understandably so, since this was a contest hack made very early on in the authors' hacking careers)
This hack shows its age, but it wouldn't take much more to make it a certified classic.
