Winner: Stardust by Tyjet66
I haven't played a lot of hacks this year. Specifically, I have only played about three. Stardust was one of those hacks. I patched it up, loaded up my emulator, and was instantly immersed in a world full of... brown. Yes, brown. While the visuals are nothing new in this hack, I found, for as far as I played it, that the various palette changes that Tyjet66 put into this were refreshingly new. As soon as Samus finished charging up, I was immediately searching my environment for vital pieces of equipment that I needed for survival. Morph Ball was found relatively quickly, and then missiles and bombs were an easy find then on. The gameplay is very fast-paced for a Super Metroid hack, and the relative ease of use and item collection was very comforting. If you're looking for a classic Super Metroid experience that's a good hour and a half playthrough, this is the hack you want. Sorry, Daltone - Maybe Grand Prix 3 and 4 will win something here next year!
