yep, this is peak.
I think this hack is really fun and looks really good
felt a little short, but I still thought it was good
has a lot of digital mantra influence, especially in the graphics. that's this hacks main thing: it has epic graphics
uhh spring ball is early so 5/5

LIGHT SPOILERS FOR VERSION 0.8.1
Yep, it's peak alright.
Project Base is a phenomenal hack that makes changes to Super Metroid that I think are spectacular. The first, and most notable. are the physics. Speed-keep is enabled from the start, back-flip can be used on command, and more, smaller changes to movement. If you've seen any TAS of version 0.8.1, you'll know that Speed Booster is absolutely broken. It not only takes less time to charge up, not only lets you move through the air when using a shinespark, but it lets you spin out of a shinespark, creating some truly epic gameplay.
There are notable room changes, like new rooms to account for some items being missing from their original spots, changes to make faster gameplay, and rooms to connect areas of the game to make backtracking easier. One notable glitch that you can do here is what I like to call "Crumble Block Skip". By back-flipping under a crumble block, it'll break. This can let you get certain items earlier. For example, Power Bombs in Green Brinstar. The PB blocks are removed, allowing you to get into the walljump shaft using CBS. This hack just adds so much to the game, you can basically do anything you want.
5/5, 100%ed, Animals Saved.
You're gonna want to play this.

SPOILER ALERT
This hack is just... AMAZING!
It adds so much, like custom items, a log book for lore, a new map with color-coded areas, and new music that absolutely slaps! It does enough to be a stand-alone game, which is just incredible.
Adding onto that, the world design is awesome. Not to glaze, but it all fits together so well, and with the lore, it adds up to an amazing world to explore.
There are fun puzzles used to get items, mostly minor ones, but Screw Attack has a puzzle that I can't really critique cause I cheated on it. Sorry, I guess. There is one puzzle, however, that lets you experience the game in a whole new light. I'll give you one hint: Save the Animals, which is a puzzle in it of itself.
I only have a few cons, mostly nitpicks. I prefer Project Base physic and mechanics (Quick boost, back-flip, speed keep) but that's just me. Some areas also feel inconsequential, like the uniquely named Vulnar Peak area, which is in the Vulnar PEAKS area. It's nothing more than an area to house some minor upgrades, but I feel like it could've done a lot more, like house the Ridley boss fight. Other than that, I think the areas are top notch. The new items are pretty cool, too. The Dark Visor from the Prime series was a neat item and is used pretty well throughout. The Metroid suit is a really cool addition, letting you use the Hyper Beam when touching the verdite lasers.
But yeah. 5/5 hack.
100%ed, would play again, again, and again.
