The game is the perfect example of what you want if you're looking for simply more Super Metroid. The map is expansive without being too confusing or boring to navigate. Level design is interesting and balanced. Graphics are polished makes things clear and intuitive. Difficulty is slightly higher than vanilla. This is the best hack I've played so far.

Definitely the most ambitious hack I've played so far in term of graphic and level design. The critical path is not always obvious and too well hidden for my filthy casual taste. I sure had to check online for direction, use wall jump and shine spark tricks to progress. Some graphical choices made things a bit confusing, making me wonder sometimes whether a tile was solid or not. Nice spin on the story though. Difficulty is hard, but mostly fair. All in all, one of the few GOAT hack out there.

A frustrating hack that I grown to like. This game have so many dead end. You go down a path forever to discover that you don't have the necessary upgrade to push through at the very end. Level design is bland in many places and there's a lot of padding. The hub mechanic is interesting but also not intuitive. Graphics are alright but rough in some spots. I also got the Wave beam glitch that broke my beams and made them likes infinite super missiles with plasma, wave and ice properties. It kinda broke the balance of the last part of the game, which might actually be a good thing since I could breeze through it. Difficulty is vanilla for the most part with a bit of a spike by the end. Even with all the frustration, I found myself wanting to play more and ended up finishing it. It's worth playing through but require some patience.

The first hack I played. Got all the way to the end but couldn't unlock the last gate. Ambitious map, but actually too big for it's own good. Backtracking is atrocious. I guess it's a classic, but there's much better out there by today's standard.

I couldn't get into it. The graphics are ambitious, but it's not doing it for me. The tiles are confusing and hunting for a single bloc to destroy on entire map isn't the kind of exploration i'm looking for. Maybe it's fine if you're in the 1% of veteran SM players and are looking for something to bang your head on for hours, but definitely not suited for casual.
