The sequel to the smash hi- oh, you never even played the first one? Good. Avoid both like the plague.

Tried it, and it just drove me insane, even with Project Base Gameplay applied to it. Just avoid this sad excuse of a hack. It'll drive you insane no matter how "good" the level design is. Same thing with the first one (Chararin 1). Avoid them both. It's the only way to stay sane.

I'm hearing voices in my head saying, "Do It."
I think this game is draining my small amount of sanity.

Quick Summary of the meaning of my SM hack ratings:
5 orbs: SM hacks within the 80% to 100% (90% ± 10%) range of perceived perfection; SM hacks for outstanding wholesome playing experiences and at most minor inconveniences.
4 orbs: SM hacks within the 60% to 80% (70% ± 10%) range of perceived perfection; Well done SM hacks with noticeable design problems.
3 orbs: SM hacks within the 40% to 60% (50% ± 10%) range of perceived perfection; Normal decent average SM hacks.
2 orbs: SM hacks within the 20% to 40% (30% ± 10%) range of perceived perfection; Overall messy, confusing, or punishing SM hacks with some upsides.
1 orb : SM hacks within the 00% to 20% (10% ± 10%) range of perceived perfection; Ruthlessly unplayable, broken, or barely from the original game changed SM hacks.

Judgement parameters summary:
° Creative ideas and features, polished design, how enjoyable and fun the hack can be, lack of hard to find or cryptic required game elements, the difficulty, and if the hack can be finished without major guides or tools.
° Note that the length of a SM hack will not necessarily contribute to my rating of the SM hack, since instead the averaged out experience over the whole hack will be taken into account to get a relative comparison between SM hacks.
° Besides this, lack of impactful changes from the original SM game also went into the evaluation of SM hacks (otherwise one may consider them among the 3 stars hacks) as follows: Ultimately, for my ratings I consider a situation in which an SM enthusiast that already has, knows about and is familiar with the original game and its prominent mechanics could only choose 1 new SM hack to play and thus would really want to make sure he/she will get a fresh and fantastic experience or journey out of his/her 1 choice.

The goal of all these SM hack ratings is so that rather new players have an overview of the whole spectrum of SM hacks and how to sort them in, in relation to each other, where SM hacks that are rated lower might still be enjoyable for more experienced players.

Finally, sometimes for SM hacks it can be relevant that they may be significantly more enjoyable from a player standpoint at which the player is well practiced and familiarized with Super Metroid's game mechanics in general, and that in particular some of the best SM hacks may not be the outright best first SM hack choices to play otherwise because of this, and for beginner SM hack players this typically steers the best first SM hack choices towards some of the SM hacks that I rated with 4 orbs instead of 5.

Rating for some hacks may be off by 1 Star, but arguably not more, and ratings are not attempted to be provided within the precision of ''half orbs''.

Played this for around 24h30m. Got around 92% if vanilla item counts.
Died in escape. Did not feel like retrying.
Way to ws was hidden in a dumb way. Some things left me curious how they were intended.
Was a good excuse to practice.

What an awful hack. If someone told me this was a Pedro hack I'd believe them. This has less edits than Another Super Metroid, the very first hack here. Wtf.

I can't even call this a halfhack or vanilla+, because most of the Vanilla map is largely unmodified. I considered giving this 2 orbs because there's some tech you need to do to progress, beat the game and get optional items, and those techs and changes means the creator did know about SM mechanics.

I'm putting the spoilers below, mostly because the hack lacks documentation here aside ED's video; always helpful when he suffered before us, and we're pretty much in the blind when he didn't play these obscure hacks.

On top of my head, techs that are required to beat the game: Mockball, GATE GLITCH, be creative to find enemy's weakness, WS clip, short charge, speed to break blocks while you fall, have at least 30 Supers and enough ammo to kill Ridley with ammo, BLUE SUIT.
X-ray Climb, Crystal Flash, Short Charge to grab some items.

SPOILERS:

You grab Morph and go down to red tower. Then, to green brinstar and grab Supers. From there, collect as many e-tanks as you can (Gauntled, Old Mother Brain and other places I forgot). You should have 3 to 4 e-tanks, and a reserve for the hellrun.

From there, grab Speed, which is in its vanilla location. You need PBs, and those 2 items block Kraid. PBs you need to do the gate glitch and enter Croc from the other way.

After Kraid, you grab Varia (vanilla). You can take a detour with your Speed and PBs to grab Grapple, and Grapple allows you to grab Ice in Brinstar.

Spazer and Charge were swapped.

Now you have to do suitless Maridia and leave it from behind to access WS. Forgotten Highway was moved, more on that later. WS is blocked the usual Crateria entrance. Still, when you come from Maridia, WS entrance is dumb. You have to look at the ceiling TWICE, once to shot supers, go up and another time to hit an INVISIBLE crumble grapple.

Phantom is vanilla, same for Gravity location.

When you go back to Maridia, remember Crab Shaft. It was edited and you need Speed and a lot of missiles to go up. On Plasma Spark room, Plasma is now there, but you need to go top left, build speed and shinespark up at a specific position to grab it.

Speaking of Plasma, I found it by accident, because X-Ray doesn't reveal ANYTHING relevant in this hack unless you use it at very random places.

Now with Plasma, hack's a breeze right? HAHA. Botwoon, Draygon, GT and Ridley don't take damage from your shots.

When hacks like Mission Rescue made Botwoon immune to shots, at least the game forced you to pick up ammo beforehand, so you had to have enough ammo for them. You can barely get ammo in this game if you want to beat it fast, and I wanted to do so. I had to backtrack, do a bunch of tricks just to get enough ammo.

Draygon and GT weren't so bad because you can farm ammo with them, but Ridley doesn't have a farm.

Also right entrance of Lower Norfair is blocked, so you can't green gate glitch to avoid fighting Golden Torizo.

Speaking of him, he's only damaged by pseudo screw and bombs. GR2 RBO hack did that, too, another bad hack imo. I haven't played the first hack of this author, so I don't know who copied who in making these GT immunities.

After Ridley, go to Spring Ball maze room. Wave is down there, where PB were. You need Wave to beat the game.

Now go to Crateria's old save point, open the gate with Wave and be grabbed by the enemy while STANDING. I was grabbed while morphed and got stuck. WTF.

Now you have to kill all the enemies in Terminator, INCLUDING a beefed green bug that takes 30 supers. Then you find Forgotten Highway. G4 is closer...

And you need a BLUE SUIT to break some blocks and kill the Metroids. And bring a lot of PBs.

Oh yeah, Momma Turtle ALWAYS kills you.

Screw this hack. I do think the creator tried to make it clear how to solve SOME rooms, but others and how to proceed were obnoxious at times. Entering WS is obtuse, grabbing Plasma is obtuse and Plasma does f all in this hack.

P.S. Anyone that might play this after me, I don't know WHY, but there's a missile gate that's grey right before G4. Have no idea how to unlock that. I wonder if it's related to another grey door where Vanilla's first intended Supers are...

Not recommended. Avoid.
