Description
Metroid Presented by the Metroid Database, or “MDbtroid” for short, is basically a graphical hack of the original NES game. The game has been improved upon in many different ways, including Samus’s animation cycle, redrawn and enlarged bosses, a beautiful new opening title screen, new ending graphics, new Suitless Samus sprites, and all the enemies have been carefully redrawn.

This is NEStroid with some nice graphical edits, and a couple of changes to the bosses. Ridley and Kraid being slightly different are the highlight of course, but the other edits all work well and stand on their own. If you want to play NEStroid a little different, this is a good hack to do it with.

I have to agree with MST's review of this hack. What is edited is done nicely. I personally would have liked to have seen the hacks changes expanded to level design as well as a greater range of graphics updated and modified. It's a good choice if you want a nostalgic run through M1 with some quality enhancements.

Its nice to see NESTroid get some good love, and this hack is pretty good at giving it that, Samus and the bosses have got some graphical updates and its looking pretty spiffy, I recommend this if you want a nostalgic run.

NEStroid with a new paint job. As far as I noticed, all of the interact-able sprites are redone, and all the edits are massive improvements. This is what NEStroid should have been.

The title screen, Ridley, and Kraid look decently impressive, but otherwise the graphical edits come across as either amateurish or neutral compared to the original.
