Played version 1.12, would recommend at least trying.

PROS:
Most of the puzzles were fun.
Graphics and music were neat.
I enjoyed new Shinespark.
Seeing boss health was nifty.

MEHS:
Some areas were really laggy, especially Croc.
Boss rush was OK.
Final boss. This would go in CONS, but I get that actually programming something new is not trivial at all, so I'm not gonna be a huge jerk about it.

CONS:
Being permanently locked out of 100% items because no backtracking zones is really annoying, especially when you didn't learn about the per zone item completion tracker until the second zone.
Enemies felt like damage sponges, especially after breaking some of the gates, until I collected all beams and damage increase items.
Hidden items, but there's no X-Ray (or at least I didn't find it) and you don't get PBs until the final zone.
Screw Attack is unsatisfying to use.
Too much Grapple beam.
Finite Bomb jumps.
No VAR beam.

PROS:
Escape was cool.
The expansions that required Shinespark conservation were fun and satisfying, ESPECIALLY the timed one by that one gate unlock.

CONS:
No VAR Beam.
Draygon was annoying until I found a way to cheese him.*
Tourian was trivial.
The map is huge and travelling around for item cleanup felt like a chore.

*How to cheese Draygon.
1. Get Screw Attack.
2. Screw Attack by one of the doors until Draygon starts shooting web.
3. Get on the center platform and face Draygon.
4. Fire normal Missiles until Draygon is at your position. The main goal here is to destroy the web, damaging Draygon is just a nice bonus.
5. Once at your position, turn and walk with Draygon while aiming diagonally up and firing Missiles. You're probably gonna get hit, but that's okay as long as Draygon's health is going down faster than yours.
Note: You probably don't need Screw Attack, it just makes surviving much easier because it makes you invulnerable to all sources of damage in that room. You can probably just Space Jump around and dodge all of the turret shots and Draygon swoops, but I wasn't going to try that after dying how much I did due to lack of skill.

PS. Imagine caring about whether a romhack conforms to official Metroid lore, lol.
