Got better the more I played.
Lots of interesting ideas in this hack, and some challenging items to get that revolve around the speedboost walljumping physics.

A very good hack and a big improvement over YPR.

Nice custom GFX.
Some cool ideas. I was really impressed with a section of Maridia in particular where the author implemented a very interesting mechanic.

Being able to maintain Speed Booster while wall jumping made for a couple interesting challenges for items.

I didn't really like the physics changes but I see why they were done and once I got Hi-Jump it wasn't that bad anymore.
Tourian was a bit of a disappointment. The escape in particular was almost the same as vanilla.

I recommend this hack.

Pro Tip: Jumping off walls witth the speedbooster is very hard but doable without Space Jump but is VERY easy with it. I wasted a ton of time trying to get items the hard way.

This is an excellent but difficult hack that becomes much more manageable once you get gravity. It has a unique and distinctive graphical style that I appreciated very much. The physics in the beginning are unique but honestly a little too cumbersome. In the beginning it feels very linear, and it is fairly linear throughout, but it begins to feel like an exploration hack soon enough. There's a door that becomes unlocked with 100% in Tourian so perhaps i'll have to go back and try and see inside but the 4 items I missed I suspect are very well hidden. There's some odd decisions here and there that make some moments a little too harsh IMO but it's a strong hack overall that will challenge almost any well seasoned player. Thanks to the author and all who contributed.

Took about 20hours to get through, tho a part of that was running around looking for secrets
Overall great hack, tho i have mixed feelings about gravity and space jump(and possibly hijump). While super powerful, they make you feel like you wasted your time getting(or trying to) some items before getting those major upgrades.
Took me a while to realize how speed walljumping worked, I first assumed it was during sparking like I've seen in some other hack, but that's on me.
One major gripe I have is the way to progress to botwoon. Suspicious room is suspicious, but since you have no idea that progression is in this area, I ended up going all over the hack looking for something that allowed me to progress, only to come back probably hours later and find the dumb blocks.
It'd be interesting to see a run of this that skipped(or at least delayed) major upgrades.
Definitely recommended if you use savestates. If not, I hope you're patient, but still would recommend it.

Very good hack. Takes a bit to get used to the new gravity and speedwalljumping but other than that absolutely recommended for players with some experience with the game. 100% completion was worth it on my part \o/ good job YP!

Really fun! Instakill spikes were less than desirable but didn't cause too many deaths fortunately. A lot of cool walljump speed booster puzzles, new areas, and new graphics. One thing I didn't like was that I could see vanilla SM room design in certain rooms, but it usually wasn't an issue, just something I noticed. Good exploration though.

Pretty good hack full of interesting gimmicks. The speedboost walljump mechanics made you feel like a total badass when you pulled it off to break into an item vault, though it could have been better explained somewhere. Can't give a full five stars because there's too much instant kill inspiration from Megaman X but I still rank it high in terms of enjoyment factor. Just never play this on a console, always bring savestates with you to ensure actual fun.

This was a great hack! although it had some annoying flaws in my opinion.

First thing is I missed certain grappling blocks (I didn't see them when I was there at first), which prevented me from progressing in the game, and this lead me to having to explore basically the entire world inorder just to progress. I spent many hours just looking around having no idea where to progress. This was very annoying. Plus it did not help that the map was very confusing. with no door indication and also not showing that a path can lead to another area. Very annoying with this huge map! I am also not a big fan of the gravity change, but still it is cool to have something that is new and different.

Other that that the hack is great! loots of very fun challenging puzzles and a very fun time finding hidden items etc. Areas looks nice and interesting! good use of the new wall-jump-mechanic, fun to do new things!
I give the hack 3.5/5

I was expecting Kraid to be Barf Kraid when I got to his lair, but no, Kraid wasn't Barf Kraid.

This seemed like a very refreshing take on metroid with new graphics, new physics, new world. It all seemed to be going so well.... that was until I discovered that despite the physics changes making it virtually impossible to wall jump.... you're actually somehow still supposed to be able to do it. That's crazy, why make the gravity so strong if you want wall jumping to still remain usable? Because of this absurd design decision, the game ceases to be playable right after getting the super missiles as you need to wall jump shortly afterwards in order to progress. Normally I would give a 3/5 in this situation but this is one of those beautiful but unplayable hacks that were actually fixed and given a new release. As such this is deprecated and earns 1/5 orbs just like super zero mission and the original redesign. In this case, the name of the fixed version is called YPX Redux. You might want to check that out in a few days from now and see if it has gotten a recommendation as it does have potential...

Edit: turns out the "fix" was just as bad, just bad in a different way. Score has been changed to 3/5

Too difficult for a casual playthrough. Too much spike damage. Really well done though.

Thankz for the hack!!

This is honestly one of the best hacks I've ever played and I'd go so far as to say this hack is in my top 3, right next to Darkholme Hospital and Subversion

The hack is a little difficult at first but the game begins to open up a little more once you pick up hi jump.. I LOVE the speed booster puzzles that involve wall jumping (which are probably all of them iirc) and it's a nice change of pace imo.I also love how Phantoon is weaker in this hack than he is in vanilla SM.. the insta-kill spikes become frustrating and annoying if you're not used to the SM Redesign-style physics but they become one less problem to worry about once you get a certain item

Anyways apart from the physics and the spikes, this hack has AMAZING graphics and design, which honestly remind me alot of Fusion. I also think adding the Unfreezable Metroids (reference to Other M) was pretty cool and I like how those metroids and the ones in Gorfair we're very weak and didn't have the strength to latch onto Samus like the grey & white metroids could

The only minor inconvenience for me was defeating Kraid and not getting any reward for it like you normally would when fighting a boss.. anyway with that being said, this hack is still a pretty good hack if you like hacks that are challenging (imo this hack beats Dependence & Golden Dawn by a LONG shot) like most challenging hacks, this hack is not for beginners or players unfamiliar with how Super Metroid is played but I'd still recommend it if you like tough or challenging hacks..
